THE INVITATION A campaign caper for the campaign-curious.
ONE ORDINARY SATURDAY

THE INVITATION

You don't need to know everything. You just need to walk through the door.

An open campaign headquarters, with volunteers and a table waiting inside.
OUTSIDE THE DOORONE ORDINARY SATURDAY

You said you'd help. It sounded like a good idea when you signed up.

Now you're outside a campaign headquarters, wondering whether everyone inside already knows each other, whether you should have brought something, and whether two hours of your Saturday can possibly matter.

Through the window: somebody laughing, somebody carrying a box, somebody negotiating with a printer. Nobody looks like the person from the recruitment photo. This is promising.

You wanted to change the world. At the moment, you'd settle for knowing where to put your coat.

This is a fictional local campaign, and you're its newest volunteer. You'll meet Sam, Maya, Casey, and Riley. You'll write, knock, help, eat, get thrown a few curveballs, and discover which parts feel like you. Sometimes you will want to hide in a closet. Then somebody will make you laugh, and somehow you'll want to come back.

Pick one of the three choices when there's a move to make. Your response and the next situation appear together as you travel down the page. Help me learn explains the task without moving the story. Each new chapter starts on a fresh page.

No score to maximize. No perfect volunteer to become. The election will have a result; the people will have a story. First, there's a door.
